Baccarat tie: a returned main stake is not a Tie-bet win

When a baccarat result is a tie, “Tie wins” does not mean that every bet on the table receives the Tie payout. A Player or Banker selection and a separate Tie selection occupy different rows of the paytable. The confirmed bet type determines which row applies.

Fictional baccarat table keeps Player, Banker and Tie selections visually separate.

Read one specific set of rules

Loto-Québec’s Multiplayer Baccarat Squeeze rules say that equal hand values make the Tie bet win, while Player and Banker bets push and are returned. The same document lists the Tie payout as 8:1. We use that documented variant for the example; we are not treating 8:1 as universal.

A push means the original stake is returned without a winning profit on that bet. It is not an instruction to move the Player or Banker stake into the Tie box after the result is known.

One result, separate hypothetical ledgers

Assume a valid tie result and one confirmed PHP 100 bet of the indicated type. Each row below is a separate illustration, not a recommendation to place multiple selections. The currency and amount are invented and do not establish the cited table’s available currency or limits.

Using the cited variant’s tie treatment
Confirmed bet Stake Returned amount Net result
Player PHP 100 PHP 100 PHP 0
Banker PHP 100 PHP 100 PHP 0
Separate Tie bet at 8:1 PHP 100 PHP 900 +PHP 800
Under the cited variant, a PHP 100 Player or Banker push returns PHP 100; a separate PHP 100 Tie bet at eight-to-one returns PHP 900 including the stake.
Original illustrative example. The figures describe only the assumptions stated in the article.

In the last row, 8:1 means PHP 800 winning profit on the PHP 100 stake. Adding back that stake gives PHP 900 returned. In either push row, PHP 100 returned minus PHP 100 staked gives zero net. These are different settlements of the same round outcome.

What if a notification says only “returned 100”?

That phrase is not enough to reconstruct the full record. Match the round identifier and confirmed selection, then determine whether the displayed figure is the stake returned, the net result or a combined account change. A result banner and a transaction entry may display different quantities.

For instance, a fictional opening balance of PHP 500 falls to PHP 400 after a PHP 100 Player stake. The push returns it to PHP 500. The return entry is positive PHP 100, but the round has generated no net profit. Looking only at the credit while omitting the earlier debit would misstate the round.

Keep variant changes visible

Record the exact title and current paytable before borrowing a payout from another page. If a different edition lists a different Tie award or a special condition, use that edition’s terms rather than silently preserving this example’s 8:1.
